As announced in our blog, WhatsApp is exploring ways for you to connect with the businesses that matter to you. We’re currently testing new tools through a closed pilot program. If you’re interested in testing our business tools, you can fill out this survey. We may reach out to you in the event we expand our testing program. Please note that this doesn’t guarantee early access to the program.

If you see a green badge next to a contact’s name, it means that WhatsApp has verified that the phone number of this contact belongs to a business account. If you’d like to stop a business from contacting you, you can block them.

We know businesses have many different needs. For example, they want an official presence – a verified profile so people can identify a business from another person – and an easier way to respond to messages.

We’re building and testing new tools via a free WhatsApp Business app for small companies and an enterprise solution for bigger companies operating at a large scale with a global base of customers, like airlines, e-commerce sites, and banks. These businesses will be able to use our solutions to provide customers with useful notifications like flight times, delivery confirmations, and other updates.

When can you expect it?

This feature is currently being rolled out in a limited capacity to a small number of businesses that are a part of WhatsApp’s pilot program. As per reports, WhatsApp for Business will be a part of the app’s beta version 2.17.285 and this will go live in about four months. Indian users will be among the first ones to get the rollout.
